My Five Wish-list Classes I Would Enroll In

I do not think I have the patience to learn in a classroom setting anymore. If there is something I need to know, I would rather pick up the book and learn it on my own… aww, who am I kidding? I’d go straight to Wikipedia and either read the first couple of sentences on the topic, or read until I get tired of it, whichever comes first.

However, if I had to go to class again, these would be my top five classes I would sign up for:

  1. Alligator wrestling. If I can learn to wrestle alligators, then there is nothing else in life that I would not be able to wrestle. Plus, I heard that alligator soup is a delicacy. If I get a chance to wrestle an alligator, then one of us is going to have a nice meal!
  2. Freestyle motocross jumping. After already conquering fear through alligator wrestling, freestyle motocross jumping should be a piece of cake.! The thrill wouldn’t be from the fear of falling 50 feet from the jump, but instead would be from the act of flying. Skydivers and bungee jumpers test the boundaries of gravity, but FMX jumpers actually break the laws of gravity, and do it in style.
  1. How to curse in French. If you ever heard someone curse in French, you know what I mean when I say it sounds cool. The English translation might be repulsive or shocking, but if you say it in French, it actually sounds quite poetic and classy. What better way to react while you learn life’s lessons the hard way… if you make a mistake, at least do it in style.
  2. CPR. I once knew CPR, but it was so long ago that I forgot it. I would like to learn it again, because it was a pretty nice feeling to know that you could help save the life of a perfect stranger.
  3. Watercolor painting. Supposedly only masochists enjoy watercolor painting, because unlike regular painting, you don’t have as much control over the paint. The difficulty is learning how to anticipate and leverage the behavior of water, rather than trying to control or dominate it. Also, when you make a mistake in watercolor painting, it is much harder to recover from it compared to traditional painting. You basically have to continue on and finish the painting. Sure sounds like life, doesn’t it?

Ha! Now that is a serious personal growth course if I’ve ever seen one! Learn to defeat fear, learn impatience, get a thrill for the wild side of things! Nothing like the fear of death to forcefully tap into creative element of the mind. :)

    Ho ! I could help you for # 3 because I’m french (^_^).

I don’t speak (and write) very well in English but I curse very well (and very often) in French.

Here is the first lesson (which is meant mot__ fuc__) : “enculé de ta mère”.
Be carefull, don’t say it to someone who’s speak french !!!

That is a perfect example of what I mean… while I was trying to pronounce the phrase that you shared, to my English ears it sounded like it could have been lyrics of a nice love song. Tres bien!

    My goodness AI,

You are a weird one. That’s quite a weird but interesting list of courses you have there.

Alligator wrestling?? Where do you get to learn that?

Lawrence - glad you asked. The first place I’d ask about it would be Gatorland (here is a picture of a wrestling move I think I saw Ric Flair did on Hulk Hogan)

Ah, yes, how very Zen is the art of watercolor painting. “Leverage the behavior of water”, indeed. I would love to get my hands on a watercolor painting of this: http://www.dynamicbalancingtaichi.co.uk/Vinegar%20tasters.htm

Hi Stephen - that’s a cool story that the watercolor painting is depicting, representing Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism. I actually read Lao Tzu’s “Tao Te Ching” every morning before I mediate.
