Productivity and Personal Development Systems

The experiment of learning from the different productivity and personal development systems has begun. (Actually, it will begin when my Getting Things Done book arrives from Amazon.)

Here is my current list of productivity and personal development systems. Some are full-blown systems, while others are more just techniques for productivity. The ones that I will read later are listed below the ones I already read:

  • 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (done)
  • Tony Robbins’ Personal Power audio lessons (done)
  • How to Win Friends and Influence People (done)
  • Classic strategy books (Book of Five Rings, Art of War, The Prince) (done)
  • Getting Things Done (current)
  • Law of Attraction
  • Developing the Leader in You by James C. Maxwell
  • Neuro-linguistic Programming
  • Think and Grow Rich

As I learn about more systems and techniques, I’ll add to this list. I’ll only add the ones I believe I will gain at least some value. For example, the 4-hour Workweek seems to be quite popular, but from reading the reviews I don’t feel like I’ll be learning anything new.

I’d love to know if there’s something that I should add to this list. Please feel free to contact me or to comment if there’s something glaring missing from this list!

    Al,

I’m with you on the 4-hour Workweek. It is some wonderful information, but it has become so popular that I feel like I’ve already learned all of the critical pieces from the book.

I see that you’ve got ‘Think and Grow Rich’ on your list. To me, the biggest secret to everything is in that one book. I’ve read it 3 times now!

In addition to the Law of Attraction, you might also read up on Ho’oponopono. It’s not so much about personal development as it is about just getting what you want, but it is interesting in its connotations.

There are some Ho’oponopono posts on my site if you want to check them out.

    Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the tip about Ho’oponopono. Gotta admit - there’s no way one can feel negative after (trying) to say that word!

I checked out some of what you have to say about Ho’oponopono on your site as well as Googling it and it certainly is appealing. Thanks for introducing me to it and it is now an addition on my list!

    Hi

Dr Joe Vitale did the Foreword to my book “The Titus Concept Money For My Best and Highest Good” and Dr Hew Len also endorsed it.

They are both simply great individuals!
With Joe Vitale’s talents and Dr Len’s insights their new book “Zero Limits” is an amazing book!!

I would recommend to add these books (all based on my personal experiences after reading them):
Clement W. Stone. The Success System
    Brian Tracey. Master your time.
Marcus Buckingham and Donald Clifton. Now, Discover Your Strengths (and then StrengthsFinder2.0 by Tom Rath)
Wayne Dyer. Pulling Your Own Strings

    Hi Sleeping Dude,

These are all good looking books. I’m adding them to my Amazon shopping list.

Buckingham is someone I’ve seen some publicity on. Looks like he has a series of books out, which shows that people are really getting something from what he says.

Similarly with Dyer - his longevity seems to show that he’s also well regarded. I went to Borders bookstore the other day and say his latest book, “Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao” prominently displayed. Looks interesting - i’m wondering how good this book is as well?
